One of the more frequent questions I get is from golfers who have been working on their swings diligently but just can't seem to make any progress. They have tried different drills, different clubs and have even switched instructors several times hoping one of them can give them that one magic tip or move to help them get over the hump. What many fail to realize is that the problem may not be the instructor, your clubs or the drills. It may simply be that you are physically unable to perform the movement. Let me explain. Most if not all of us lack the time and ability to workout, stretch and keep our body's in tip top golf shape. We sit a computers for long periods of time, we have injuries, some recent some from a long time ago. We have lost flexibility as well. With that being said we can only ask our bodies to do so much before it makes compensations or it simply prevents us from making the swing we think we are capable of making.

So what is TPI about?

The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading educational organization and research facility dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.

Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.

- TPI does not believe in one way to swing a club, rather in an infinite number of swing styles. But, we do believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do.

- The most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. This screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics and biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and a client history.

So now you know a little more about TPI what should you do?

Come Schedule a one hour TPI evaluation. The evaluation is simple and takes approx. 15 minutes, we will then review the results and customize a simple 6 week plan to get your body ready to have a great 2014. The last 30 minutes will be spent using what we have learned and begin to make swing corrections.

I greatly look forward to working with you in 2014
